In 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, in its continued effort to enhance service delivery to farmers, transferred the management and coordination of the Government Input Subsidy Programme to the National Maize Corporation (NMC).
The programme is designed to support small-scale farmers by providing access to affordable agricultural inputs and subsidised mechanization services. Its overarching goal is to improve household food production, strengthen farmer livelihoods, and contribute meaningfully to national food security.
Each year, usually in August, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture announces the farmer contribution prices for both inputs and tractor hire services.
