Tractor Hire Services

Apart from inputs subsidy, the subsidy programme provides subsidized tractor hire services to farmers. Government subsidizes the cost of a tractor hour by 30% and farmers contribute 70%.  The main aim of the mechanization programme is to timely, effectively and efficiently provide local farmers with subsidized tractor hire services. All tractor services are provided at a flat rate.

Payment is done at Eswatini bank branches and then the deposit slip is taken by the farmer to the nearest Rural Development Area (RDA). The National Maize Corporation’s Tractor Pool Coordinator upon receiving the slip registers the farmer and completes his/her job card to be taken by the tractor driver when going to plough for that farmer. Due to the small number of NMC’s tractors, the corporation also engaged private tractors on a contractual basis to assist in the ploughing.
